About Me

IMG_1851.JPG

I’ve been writing for a diverse range of clients for more than 20 years. Besides writing for colleges and universities, I taught at Hofstra University and St. John’s University, and worked as a program coordinator at Loyola University Chicago.

I have a master’s degree in liberal education from the Graduate Institute of St. John’s College in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and a master’s degree in fine art from the Tyler School of Art in Rome, Italy, and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Based in Brooklyn, New York, I work for clients nationwide.

Testimonials

Chris is, quite simply, a joy to work with, regardless of the assignment. He cares about the finest of details, yet responds to questions and suggestions without hesitation or complications of ego. He also meets or beats deadlines, pays attention to word counts, replies promptly to messages with clear and thoughtful answers, and treats story subjects with respect. And, as a delightful bonus, Chris has a wonderful sense of humor, which makes every interaction a pleasure (and, often, a bright spot in the day).
— JEAN SMITH, EDITOR, Former editor SARAH LAWRENCE MAGAZINE
Chris is an excellent writer, and is a valued extension of my home team. He consistently receives rave reviews from my faculty and alumni who say that he is highly professional and personable, and that he really captures the essence of the subject. I trust Chris to discover the slant of a story when so often I only know ‘there’s a story in here somewhere,’ and advise me as to an appropriate length to adequately tell that story. He always delivers a first rate product and always meets or beats deadlines.
— James Raby, Executive Director of Marketing and Communications, University of South Carolina - Aiken
Chris is a quick, agile writer with a flair for making articles pop. Just when it seems there is no new angle to a perennial favorite topic, he finds one and makes the story sing. Working with Chris is a breeze. He’s a master of the higher ed beat and knows exactly how to tweak a story to meet the needs of different publications and readers. Best of all, he’s fast, so there’s no worrying about deadline pressures.
— Brenda Krebs, Former Editorial Director, Miami Dade College
